Early Explorations in Mixed Media Jewellery

Very early ones but I'm rather pleased with the way they have turned out.

My first piece is a bracelet made from white net, gold chain, blue glass beads, bone and paper ephemera all stitched together with blue cotton

My second piece is a very very long opera necklace made from recycled brass chain and salvaged lace flowers

And the Winner is.................

We have drawn out of The Hat and the winner of our little giveaway is.......Catherine!
Congratulations Catherine, I will be getting in touch for your details so I send you your prizes.

I hope you enjoy them

Lets Hear it for Summer!

As much as I love chunky knits, nice warm hats and gloves and everything yarnworthy for chilly weather I can't believe how good the sunshine is making me feel

I think this spring/summer I need to do more mixed media work, more 'salvaged textiles', more experimantal jewelley and more of those things that make your soul go Mmmmmm thats niceeee.

In my case that means lots of lace, found pieces of metal, rescued jewelley, tea dyed ribbons, handmade lace, sari silk, those two big strands of french chandalier crystal drops that have been haunting my dreams for months, rock crystals, glass baubles and lots and lots of Art Stitching.

I'm also thinking of Muslin dresses with ribbons and silk accents, simple little pieces that would look great being layered with maybe a waistcoat and boots, dresses and tops that are perfect for summery weather. More pieces that combine silk and muslin I think, some light tops made from some ethereal floaty yarns with delicate fabrics fleated and tied

I'm going to leave you with some of the images from the 'Inspire' folder

The Girl With Pistachio Eyes - Hat Photographs

Photographs for 'The Girl with Pistachio Eyes'

Crochet Summer Art Hat in White Cotton with Green Velvet Ribbon and Recycled Fabric Rose

The Girl with the Pistachio Eyes

Mood Board for my latest Hat. I wish I could say that I had made the board and then the hat but I'm afraid I don't work that way. The hat was finished on Friday but I have only just got around to making the moodboard for it. I know you aren't supposed to work that way but when I design I have an idea in my head as to how I want the finished piece to look and I don't want distractions although thechance of it coming out as I had envisaged is a very rare accurence

Her pieces are very delicate yet sturdy and extremely wearable and would make any garment or bag extra special.

She also makes beautiful earrings, these delicate little white clay studs are impressed with a tulip design and are so enchanting they would be fit for a bride.
