Photo Editing

You know when you discover a new tool on your editing software and use it on a load of pics? well I have been doing the same with some of mine. It a tool called 'Comic book' from Picasa and I adore the effect that it produces.

Its sort of like a watercolour/glass effect that varies with each image used.

I tried it with a photograph of myself and I ended up looking rather like a Mucha Maiden

1:Salachia

In Roman mythology, Salachia was the female divinity of the sea. She was the consort and queen of Neptune, god of the sea and water.

Salachia is represented as a beautiful nymph, either enthroned beside Neptune, or riding beside him in a pearl-shell chariot drawn by dolphins or sea-horses.

Necklace is made from White Shell Discs, Lapis Lazuli, and Amethyst; with a Wire-Wrapped Beach Pebble Pendant and Hand-hammered Copper Wire.

 3:Satis

The Ancient Egyptians believed Satis was the goddess who caused the Nile floods. Her name means ‘she who shoots forth’, referring to the annual flooding of the river.

One of her titles was ‘She Who Runs Like An Arrow’ and her symbols were the arrow and the running river.

Necklace is made from Quartz Points, Amethysts, African Map Jasper, Turquoise and Hand-Hammered Copper Wire.

2:Belisama

Belisama was a goddess of lakes and rivers in Celtic mythology. She has been claimed to be the consort of Belenus, the Celtic sun god.

Her name has been interpreted to mean ‘summer bright’.

Necklace is made from Green Jasper, Turquoise, Red Coral, and Hand-Hammered Copper Wire.

 4:Calypso

Calypso was a nymph in Greek mythology who lived on the Isle of Ogyia, where she imprisoned Odysseus for seven years on his way home from Troy.

She is said to be the daughter of the Titan Atlas.

Necklace is made from Grey Shell Discs, Green Jade Moonstones, Hand-Hammered Copper Wire and Antiqued Copper Chain.

The Rabbit Queen- 100% Cotton Art Hat/Headdress with Vintage Rhinestone Bracelet, Hand Rolled Silk Roses, Glass Pearls, Rabbit Fur and Hessian Rabbit Ears

The Rabbit Queen is a headdress/ hat inspired by a mythology that might have been. The base is pure cotton and is decorated with hand rolled silk roses, a vintage rhinestone bracelet, recycled rabbit fur, gold ribbon and is adorned with two long Hessian and felt rabbit ears.

Although there are no folk tales involving rabbit queens there are several goddesses that are represented by Rabbits and Hares.

Kaltes, the shape–shifting moon goddess of western Siberia, was sometimes pictured in human shape wearing a headdress with hare’s ears. Ostara, the goddess of the moon, fertility, and spring in Anglo–Saxon myth, was often depicted with a hare’s head or ears and Eostre, the Celtic version of Ostara, was a goddess also associated with the moon, and with mythic stories of death, redemption, and resurrection during the turning of winter to spring. Rabbits were sacred to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, beauty, and marriage—for rabbits had “the gift of Aphrodite” (fertility) in great abundance. In Greece, the gift of a rabbit was a common love token from a man to his male or female lover.

Yes, it has been a long time since my last post and even longer since my last Artweeks post but I hope to make up with a double post onthe subject of The Rabbit Queen.

I couldn't find any folk or fairy tales with Rabbit Queens in them. My only success was a tale entitled 'the princess who wore a rabbit skin dress' which wasn't what I was looking for.
